This is not a trendy list. These are neighborhood places we know firsthand and have tried before recommending them. In many cases, we also know the people behind them. We look for independent businesses with personality, honest food and a genuine connection to Sant Pere, Santa Caterina and La Ribera.
L’Univers / El Andorra
Barestaurant L’Univers, inside Santa Caterina Market, is one of those simple places we like for its home-style, market-based cooking. Bar Andorra, on Sant Pere Més Alt, keeps the spirit of a true neighborhood bar with tapas, Mediterranean dishes, vermouth and wines. Two nearby options, each with its own personality.
La Cevichería Nikkei
La Cevichería Nikkei, in Plaça de Sant Pere, combines Peruvian and Japanese cuisine in a small and very personal setting. We especially like it for ceviche, sushi and Nikkei flavors without leaving the neighborhood. It is one of those places we recommend because we know it, we have tried it and it offers something different just a few minutes from the guesthouse.
Los Bachiche / La Candela
Los Bachiche, in Plaça de Sant Pere, brings together Italian and Peruvian traditions, with a special focus on fresh pasta, sorrentinos and recipes where both cuisines meet naturally. Very close by, La Candela offers contemporary Peruvian cuisine with ceviche, tiraditos, causas, Creole dishes and a good selection of piscos. These are two distinctive places we know and like to recommend for their proximity, personality and food.
